The Bayonne softball team has been a perennial power in Hudson County in recent seasons. The last time they failed to reach the county championship game was the 2017-18 season, also the last time they failed to crack .500. They’ve recorded an 80-32 record ever since, and finally broke through and won the Hudson title in the 2021-22 season, their first in 30 seasons.
Now, as the Bees prepare to kick off the season after a number of big-time seniors graduated, head coach Samantha Maggio refuses to think of this campaign as a transition, with plenty of high-end talent in the fold to perhaps regain the county crown.
