Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will not win his 2024 presidential bid and ascend to the White House. But he has been averaging close to 10 percent in polling, making him the highest-scoring third-party candidate since Ross Perot in 1992.
And that means he’ll probably help decide the outcome of the race between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, so what does the current polling say?
- A Quinnipiac University survey from last month showed Biden ahead by 3 points in a head-to-head against Trump. But with Kennedy in the mix, Trump took the lead by 1 percentage point.
- A similar outcome was seen in a Reuters/Ipsos poll earlier last month, which showed Biden leading Trump by 3 points but then trailing Trump by 1 point when Kennedy was added to the mix.
- A HarrisX/Forbes poll, meanwhile, from later last month, showed Trump leading Biden by 3 points in a head-to-head contest. But Trump also led the pack by 3 percentage points after being added by Kennedy, Cornnell West and Jill Stein.
Kennedy’s campaign said Monday he collected enough signatures to appear on the ballot in North Carolina. Kennedy has secured access to the ballot in Utah. He and an allied super PAC, American Values 2024, say they’ve collected enough signatures to qualify in several other states, including swing states Arizona, Nevada and Georgia, but election officials there have not yet signed off.
