Hudson County critics of the “county line” were jubilant Friday when a federal judge abolished the controversial ballot design policy for the June primaries, while the powerful county Democratic organization slammed the ruling that effectively curbs a tool it has used to for decades to maintain control of local elected seats.

The decision by U.S. District Judge Zahid Quraishi to abolish the “line” this year sent immediate shockwaves throughout Hudson County politics.
