UPDATE: More heavy rain to drench state, sparking flood alerts and wind warnings
One dreary day down, three more to go.
That’s the easiest way to sum up the weather conditions in New Jersey during a week in which we’ll see at least some rain each day through Thursday.
While it won’t rain all day across the state on Tuesday, forecasters say New Jersey can expected another three-quarters to 1.5 inches of precipitation with cool, grey conditions continuing.
Highs will top out mainly in the upper 40s and winds could gust to 25 mph. Minor flooding is possible on Tuesday and a coastal flood advisory will be in place from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. Wednesday in southeast Burlington, Middlesex, Monmouth and Ocean counties, the National Weather Service said.
There will be periods of rain all day, though forecasters say South Jersey could experience a lull in precipitation during the afternoon. The risk of thunderstorms is low, but not zero, especially in southern regions of the state.
Wednesday will bring several rounds of showers, some of which could be heavy at times. Highs will be in the 40s to low 50s. Damaging winds are possible at night, because the storm is expected to strengthen near the Mid-Atlantic coast, and forecasters can’t rule out the possibility of an isolated tornado, especially in southern New Jersey.
The forecast for Thursday isn’t great either, with forecasters calling for breezy cool conditions and a chance of showers. Temperatures will be similar to Wednesday, though we could avoid rain for much of the day.
Friday is shaping up to be breezy with highs of about 50 degrees, but rain should stay away and some sun will return, the weather service said.
Overnight lows this week will mainly range from the upper 30s to mid-40s. Temperatures in early April typically range from the upper 30s to upper 50s.
