N.J.’s best new Indian restaurant is a flashy hit in this cutthroat food city

Entering a dining landscape as vibrant (see: competitive) as Red Bank’s is a risk for any restaurateur — if you’re subpar or lackluster in any way, you’ll be lucky to last a year.

But Saffron Modern Indian Cuisine appears to have staying power, as the flashy eatery has enjoyed a fervent reception since opening in December. Owner brothers Manish and Hanish Kumar and their wives Amrita Jogi and Fatima Kumar opened their first location in Milwaukee a few years ago and decided it was time to bring their concept to Central Jersey.
