North Bergen man is carjacked at gunpoint, police say

A North Bergen resident gassing up at a station on Tonnelle Avenue early Monday morning was carjacked at gunpoint, authorities said.

The incident occurred at 2:09 a.m. at the BP gas station at 2510 Tonnelle Ave., North Bergen spokeswoman Sofia Quintanar said.

The 33-year-old victim told police he parked his 2020 Range Rover SVR at a gas pump and entered the convenience store. While the victim was inside, the assailant also entered the store, brandished a firearm and demanded the victim’s keys.

The suspect, who was dropped off at the gas station by a dark-colored SUV, was described as wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and a facemask.
