Len Melisurgo is a reporter on the breaking news team at NJ Advance Media, specializing in New Jersey weather coverage for NJ.com and The Star-Ledger, from heat waves to snowstorms to everything in between. He also assists the news team with general news reporting, on topics ranging from cicadas and spotted lanternflies to meteor showers, tricky town names and rejected vanity license plates, along with some editing duties. Len is a Rutgers University alumnus (with a bachelor’s degree in journalism) and previously worked as a local news reporter and editor in Middlesex County, as an assistant metro editor helping to shape local news coverage in northern and central New Jersey, and as a digital news editor, overseeing The Star-Ledger’s Continuous News Desk. The news desk won multiple New Jersey Press Association awards for its comprehensive coverage of Tropical Storm Irene in 2011 and Superstorm Sandy in 2012.
