The massive jackpot for for Monday’s lottery drawing has jumped to an estimated $1 billion, with a cash option of $483.8 million.
The winning numbers were: 19, 24, 40, 42 and 56. The Powerball drawn was 23 with a Power Play of 2x.
Monday’s jackpot is potentially the 11th largest in U.S. lottery history.
No one has hit the Powerball jackpot since a lottery player in Michigan won the $842.4 million jackpot on New Year’s Day.
While no one across the country hit Saturday’s $951 million jackpot, four second-prize, $1 million tickets were sold — one each in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Louisiana and Illinois, lottery officials said. Each matched five numbers but not the Powerball.
In New Jersey, three $50,000 third-prize tickets were purchased for Saturday’s drawing. Each matched four numbers plus the Powerball. They were purchased at:
- Essex County: Lucky 7 Food Mart on Centre Street in Nutley
- Burlington County: ShopRite on Ark Road in Mount Laurel
- Union County: E & R Deli & Grocery on Maple Avenue in Hillside
Saturday’s winning numbers were: 12, 13, 33, 50 and 52. The Powerball drawn was 23 with a Power Play of 3x.
In addition, no one hit the secondary $10 million Double Play drawing. Those winning numbers were: 20, 29, 43, 57 and 63. The Double Play number drawn was 16. A second-prize, $500,000 ticket was purchased in Michigan.
The odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are 292,201,388 to 1. A player who buys a $2 ticket has about a 1 in 11,688,053 chance to match five numbers and win at least $1 million, while the odds are 913,129 to 1 to win a third prize of at least $50,000.
Powerball drawings are held each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot is worth $36 million, with a cash option of $17.1 million.
