Thieves who stole $1 million in jewelry from a store in the Ocean County Mall last week entered the building through an unlocked door while the mall was closed for the night, authorities said Tuesday.
The bandits entered the sprawling building in Toms River sometime between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday through a closed, but unlocked exterior mall door that leads into a vacant store next to Venzio Jewelers, township police said.
The jewel thieves then cut a a hole through a wall separating the jewelry store and vacant store before going to work in Venzio.
